Movies

Do you take your kids to the movie theater? I started taking Zachariah to movies a year ago. He loved it, and we haven't stopped since.

Over the summer we got to see "Toy Story 3" and "Despicible Me" at the theater. They were both fun kids movies. He loved them, and I enjoyed them as well. Those are the types of movies that I want to take him to.

I'm hoping to go see "Megamind" tomorrow night. And maybe later this month or next month we can see the new Disney movie "Tangled". That looks really good. Have you found any good kids movies? Do you like to take your kids to the theater.

You know, the cost is what normally turns me again, but we have a cheap theater near us that helps. In a nearby small (very small town) there is a one room theater. They show kid-friendly movies (and occasionally others but at the later showing), and they sell tickets for $3 per person anytime. And they have great snack prices too. $5 will get you a huge tub of popcorn and 2 drinks. Can't beat it.

I enjoy doing a movie night with Zachariah as a treat for us to get out once in a while. It's always good to find an activity that we both like, and it seems to make a good mommy & me activity for us. I'm sure some day (sooner than I wish) he won't want to be seen in public with me anyway, so I'll just soak it up while I can.

I haven't taken my 4-year old yet but want to. We have movie night at home with popcorn but I just know he'd love the movies! Thanks for posting this - you've inspired me to take him (there's a dollar place nearby too!)

We are lucky enough to have a drive-in near us! All 5 of us (and even the dog is we want) can go watch the double feature for $21 total. They have a big snack bar but you can also bring your own stuff (even booze if discreet). It's a blast!! They have had midnight showings of big new movies and show nothing more than PG-13 so it's family friendly.
Occasionally, we feel like we "need" to see a new movie on the big screen without kids (like the new Harry potter) so we go to a traditional theater. We are also considering "Tangled" with our 3 year old but I think we will take her to a matinee at the theater while her brothers are at school one day.

Why is Tangled rated PG? I'm so bummed; I was thinking about taking Helen.

We don't do movies very often. With Gabe's allergies I get kind of paranoid about all of the buttery surfaces from the popcorn. Plus, Adam and I are kind of cheap and prefer to wait until they come out of video to same the money ;)

My older two really enjoy the theatre and can handle movies that aren't necessarily cartoons, which is nice for me. We do go to a family movie (without the 2yo though) every cuple of months but it's expensive here. The cheapest theatre is $7.50/person and snacks are outrageous. But that just makes it more special when we do go.

We have a cheap theater near us, too, so we like to take the kids occasionally as well. I think Toy Story 3 was the last one we took them to, but my 7 year old has seen the ads for Tangled and wants to go see it. We'll probably do that over Thanksgiving break sometime. Fun times!

We've been twice. It's hard for my kid to sit still that long, though she does manage.

I find it disappointing that Tangled is rated PG. Does that make me an old lady?

I need to find out from you where this cheap theater is! That's awesome, three bucks!
Also, thank you so much for the pumpkin hat! It looks so precious.
