This exercise thing

So, it's been 8 days since I've been working out now. Every day! I didn't even skip over the weekend. And I had to get up earlier than normal on Sunday to have enough time to work out. Yikes! I'm on a role. And I'm proud of myself.

I realized after the first two days that I was going to need new workout clothes. What I have is fine, but I only have one sports bra. And I don't like to wear it twice in a row after it's all icky and sweaty. So, I made a deal with Matt. I had to keep exercising daily until today, then we would go buy some new exercise clothes for me. I did it. This is a good commitment to him and I. And he didn't even expect me to workout over the weekend. I knew I had to if I wanted to keep the momentum going.

So, here we are a week later. What changes am I noticing? Not too many. I have more energy. I feel strong enough to do the workouts now. I feel more fit. But I still have a long way to go. The point of this first step (of exercising every day) was for me to get more fit. That's an important step for me. And I needed to develop this daily habit.

What comes next? Next is the hard part for me. I need to focus on losing weight. I need to start eating better. I have started on this, but I'm not there. Here's what I am doing: drinking more water, eating good breakfasts, eating better lunches. Our dinners aren't too bad. What I really need to concentrate on is more fruits and vegetables during the course of the day, less snacking, and cutting out evening snacks (I get pretty carried away there). So, I have some more steps to take. And I know what they are.

Then I have a weight goal. This is just a starter goal for now, and I will keep working at it. This will in no way make me skinny, because I have twice this to lose. But it will give me a good start and make me healthier. My current goal is 40 lbs. My reward for reaching that? Matt has agreed to start trying for a baby. :D I'm very happy about that, so I need to keep on this track. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.

Oh, that's a great reward! I think even I could get motivated for that one. :)
