Shorty McShorter

"Older siblings may stunt younger children’s growth." Could this be true? These are just statistics that researchers have found.

My son is very tall for his age. He always has been. There really aren’t too many tall people in our family. Matt has a few uncles who are taller. And we’ve been told that both of his grandfathers were a bit taller. That’s about all the tall people we can find in our family. Most are under 5’8” actually.

After reading this article, I wonder will the rest of our kids be short just because Zachariah is tall. Did we use up all our tall genes on him? If you have more than one child have you noticed anything like that? Do you think it’s different for girls/boys? It is just interesting to me.

Then there is this: “Having a male twin sibling reduces a woman’s fertility.” Strange.

Boy, I sure hope that first article is wrong, or at least wrong some of the time. Both of my kids are already below average in height (no big surprise since their mama is barely 5 feet tall) and if my second child gets the short end of the stick, so to say, my poor little guy is going to be picked on throughout his school years. Now I'm really worried!

My DH is the oldest of three and he is 4 inches taller than his little brother. However, my father is the middle brother and he is 6'6" and taller than both his older brother (the shortest) and his younger brother. Of course, my dad was born during World War 2 and his oldest brother didn't live when them for a while either so that example might be skewed.

People comment on how tall both of my kids are. I also have a twin brother and I had no fertility issues. Of course, I am just one person.

Well I am by far the shortest and oldest in my family. So that doesn't apply to us. In fact my youngest sibling is the tallest, also a boy, but still significantly taller than my sister and I. But I was "tall" on the charts as a child. . .

My husband's baby brother is 6 feet 10. I'm just saying.
