Sarah at No Whey, Mama wants to have an Internet potluck. I think this is a grand idea. And I was just about to get things for chili yesterday. I'm in the mood for warm, yummy food too. If you'd like to add your recipes, please let a comment or post on your site and make sure you let me know that you did. I'd love to try some new things. (And Sarah is giving out bonus points for dairy-free recipes.)
This is my mom's simple chili recipe. I even put it in the crockpot. Yummy.
Mom's Chili
1 lb. ground beef
1 small onion
1 large can tomato juice
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 large can Brooks Hot Chili Beans
chili powder or crushed red pepper to taste
All you do is brown the ground beef in a pan with diced onion. Then drain the meat, and put everything into a pot until it is hot. It doesn't take long to make, but it won't hurt it to sit and simmer for a while either. Or I brown the meat, then put it all in the crockpot on high for about 3-4 hours. It's good to serve with shredded cheese, sour cream, and jalapenos (if you like it hot) on top. It reheats well too. And you can serve leftovers on top of spaghetti for a change.

Excellent! And it can be a Crock Pot recipe, too! Double bonus points. ;)
ooh we do chili all the time with a giant pack of meat and it lasts for at least 6 meals (maybe 4 now that we're feeding 2 little hoovers)
I had always had this urge to try it on spaghetti and everyone thought I was nuts. I just figured I saw it somewhere but then my husband insisted I'm probably mixing it up with meat sauce. I'll have to try it with leftovers when he's not home to make fun of me :)
Too bad I didn't read this this morning! I may make this for dinner tomorrow night, though!
Thanks for the recipe.
Yummmm......I love crock pot recipes!
Thanks for all the good comments. I hope you all like this.
Jen- On spaghetti is called Cinncinnatie-style chili. Maybe it's an Ohio thing. Or I've heard it called chili mac before too. We have a restaurant in my town based from Cinnci called "Skyline Chili", and their menu revolves around the spaghetti/chili thing. Not my favorite, but it's good if you get tired of plain chili after a while. Add some onions and cheese...yum! Let me know what you think.
