Going, going, gone.

This next weekend I am going out of town with a friend of mine. This is just a girls' get away. We are both really excited about it.

Matt suggested the whole trip. About a month back when I was having a few rough days, Matt mentioned that I needed a break. Yep, I do. He decided that he would set aside some money for me to go out of town. He told me to invite a friend and pick a location and time, and then he would take care of the details.

He has lived up to it. I called another stay-at-home-mom friend of mine, and she was so excited at the idea. This particular friend doesn't get much time to herself either. She is the mother of 3 young boys, and her husband has been laid off for over a month now. Their finances are really tight right now, but Matt offered to pay for the hotel and meals for her as well. So, she's bringing some spending money and we'll go shopping.

We have a nice hotel within driving distance of several big shopping centers. We're planning to shop most of the day, eat at nice restaurants, and then relax at the hotel. We might enjoy the pool, or just retreat to the peace and quiet of the room. We can stay up all night talking and reconnecting, or we might go to bed early and actually sleep until we can sleep no more. No matter what, it will be nice to have a break away.

I know that Zachariah is in good hands with Matt. This will be the longest Matt's every had Zachariah to himself. He's never stayed overnight with him alone (which I'm not worried about, because he sleeps really well at night). But it will be 2 long days dealing with every need and want of a toddler. Matt's mom offered to come watch Zachariah, so Matt could get out for a little while too. It's a good thing Matt refused, because I would have been mad. That is so not the point. Matt can handle his child for that long, and he needs to see that he can. This will be a good experience for him and Zachariah. And maybe, just maybe, we'll all come away from this more rested and relaxed. And I'm hoping that I'll be appreciated around here a little more.
